Home has always been more than a place—it’s where memories are made, traditions are shared, and everyday moments become meaningful.

Hearth & Thistle was created from a love of thoughtful, handmade pieces and the belief that home is something we create wherever we are. The hearth represents warmth, comfort, and the gathering place where everyday moments become memories. The thistle is a personal nod to my Scottish heritage and the journey of learning more about my heritage and the traditions that inspire me.

My journey into handmade creations began with a desire to learn something new and find a creative outlet. Over the years, I have explored different crafts, but crochet became the craft that stayed with me. After teaching myself this skill, I found that its simplicity and portability allowed me to create wherever life took me—from quiet moments at home to adventures away.

What started as a hobby grew into a passion for creating useful, thoughtful pieces for everyday living. With encouragement from my family and friends, I began sharing the handmade items I created and realized that the things I made for my own home could bring comfort, convenience, and a little extra care into someone else’s.

While crochet is at the heart of what I create, I also enjoy incorporating sewing into my work by making practical pieces designed for everyday use. From crochet bags, towels, washcloths, and scrunchies to reusable household items like cloth paper towels, each piece is made with purpose and intention.

Many of my creations began with a simple question: “Is there a better way?” I wanted items in my own home that were useful, long-lasting, and made with care. My husband and I have used reusable paper towels and dishcloths in our home for years, and that experience inspires me to create pieces that become a natural part of daily routines.

The pieces I make aren’t just created for others—they are part of my own home, too. My family and I use these items in our everyday lives, including while traveling in our camper. Using my own creations helps me continue improving them and finding new ways they can make everyday life a little easier.

My goal is to create handmade pieces that are practical, thoughtful, and made with care. I hope that when something from Hearth & Thistle becomes part of your home, you discover new uses and possibilities beyond what you originally imagined.
